Dienstag, 18.11., 19 Uhr, Vortragsraum.
Once at the forefront of the modernist avant-garde, few have heard of Mina Loy. A daring British-American poet, painter, and entrepreneur, she moved restlessly between the movements of Futurism, Dada, and Surrealism, creating work that was as experimental as it was visionary.
In this talk, Johanna Pelikan will introduce Loy’s extraordinary range—from her writings and paintings to her assemblages and lamp designs—and explore how she grappled with feminism, the meaning of life, and the very nature of art.
Johanna Pelikan is a postdoctoral researcher in American literature and culture at the University of Hamburg, where she completed her PhD studies in 2025.
Entrance free for members of The Arts Society Hamburg. Guests: 15 €, Students 5 €.
